Eta Chapter, Incorporated is the fourth graduate chapter of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Incorporated and we are a part of the Proud and Purposeful Northeast Region. We were chartered on November 19, 1939, at Norfolk Community Hospital, Norfolk, VA by sixteen courageous Registered Nurses. Many who achieved distinction for being the first nurse in their field, the first of their race, the best in the nation and region, and the most outstanding. One of the charter members, Fostine Riddick Roach, served as the Seventh National President of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Incorporated.
Our motto is “Service for Humanity”, which reflects the mission and goals of this organization. The mission of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Incorporated, is to elevate the plane of nursing by encouraging continuing education among nursing professionals and to develop working relationships with other professional groups. Eta Chapter, Incorporated supports this mission by providing scholarships to nursing students and by partnering with other local, regional, and national community groups; to provide education on Disease Prevention, Health Promotion and being agents of social change.
As the 17th President, I am proud to serve with such an elite, talented, and inspiring professional nurses, who are committed and determined to support the vision that our Founder’s created on October 16, 1932.
